prom

It’s back, everyone. The pinnacle of our high school careers, the topic of every ‘90s teen movie, the “Olympics of High School” and probably some of the most awkward phases of our lives… that’s right, prom. Art Mix and Unseen Heroes are catering to all our nostalgic needs to bring us Prom 2.0 at the Crocker Art Museum. It’s going to be everything you ever thought it to be, except you’ll actually be allowed to drink this time. Cancel any plans you might already have for Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, and get ready to dance the night away from 5 to 9 p.m. Start off the night with a corsage and boutonniere crafting station and a prom photo booth, then make way to the Andy’s Candy Apothecary candy bar and DEEDA Salon makeup refresher station. From 6 to 7 p.m., DJ Bryan Hawk will be spinning ‘70s classics so you can show off all your Saturday Night Fever-esque dance moves. At 7 p.m., get your second chance at becoming Prom King or Queen in the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s costume contest. Transition into the Footloose zone thereafter, as DJ Eddie Edul brings the best of the ‘80s. Finish the night with a modest mosh and slow dance session as The Best Ever Summer Band covers ‘90s classics. Find this event at Crockerartmuseum.org for tickets and more information, because we haven’t even covered all that this event will offer. Tickets are free for Crocker Members, $10 to non-members with a $2 reduction in prices to college students. Grab your poofy dresses, baby blue tuxedos and gallons of hair spray: it’s prom, people! —BD
