It’s time to take the plunge! Are you brave enough to jump into a cold pool during the winter? Come and test your toughness by participating in the Polar Bear Plunge, a chilly but fun way to support local swimming pools. Bring your swim trunks and a towel (and maybe a warm sweater for afterward) to Clunie Pool at McKinley Park on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon. If swimming isn’t your strong suit, you can still participate during the event in the “Seal Splash” in the shallow end. Or maybe hit up the “Penguin Slide,” the water slide into the deep end. And of course the main event is the Polar Bear Plunge off the diving board. You can also keep dry and watch people brave the cold water for free. Adults and children are $5 each to participate. For more information call (916) 808-2306 or email aquatics@cityofsacramento.org. Register online to take the plunge at Parksandreconline.cityofsacramento.org.
