Summer may be over, but the season for vacations is never-ending. But who wants to spend x-amount of dollars on a plane ticket when you could just head down to Cal Expo for the Sacramento Aloha Festival? Free admission ($10 for parking) beats commercial plane seating any day. Educational exhibits, workshops, merch and food vendors, and Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Entertainers invite you to experience Hawaii from a local perspective. Hawaii is commercialized as a prime vacation setting; however, most travelers forget the history and culture surrounding the islands. SAF works to educate, fortify and maintain the strong community surrounding Hawaiian history. Sacalohafest.org has information on entertainment, parking and lodging for this Oct. 4 event. Doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m., but don’t forget to bring your own chairs! This year is expected to draw a larger crowd than the last!
